Supersize Me...Not.

Supersize me, not only a movie but a documentary that changed many people views the once friendly Ronald McDonald. This documentary was filmed in 2004 starring Morgan Spurlock. The experiment was to see what would happen if Spurlock ate McDonalds for 30 days straight: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The rules, simply…or so you think: He must eat only the products from McDonalds, he must “Super Size” any meal if asked upon, he cannot work out, he must sample every item on the McDonalds menu, and he can only walked 5,000 steps a day because that’s about the average of a typical American. Before starting the study Spurlock goes to see not one but three doctors to make sure he is in good enough shape to even start this experiment. Even while taping he has a nutritionist and a personal trainner. During the film you see Spurlock throw up, gain weight, go through depression, headaches, etc. Overall this study was done because 2 girls were trying to sue McDonalds for them gaining weight and being unhealthy. Also some very interesting fact learned while watching this movie are: 60 percent of all Americans are either overweight or obese, One in every three children born in the year 2000 will develop diabetes in their lifetime, McDonald's operates more than 30,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries on 6 continents, etc. This film has taught Americans a lot of information that was unknown to us before also I know many people who have stopped eating fast food all together after this movie which means Spurlock’s point was made.

Supersize Me was a very hard movie to get through. Watching that man eat McDonald’s everyday for 30 days was gross. I never really thought about how many people eat that kind of food every day. But the movie stated that when eating that food you feel good when it is in your mouth. But afterward you feel depressed. All of those fats and calories just make your inside feel unsettling. No wonder the weight in this country is so obese. As a person that does not eat McDonald except for once every four months, I found that this movie did not affect me that much. But one connection I noticed after eating that kind of food you find yourself feel disgusting. You feel ashamed of yourself. People need to realize that it does not change your appearance but it affects your organs. I just hope this movie helped a couple people, who eat that food more than twice a week, to change there ways.
